Event Guidelines
A few simple habits make public astronomy safer, darker, and more enjoyable for everyone.
Night vision
Use dim red light after dark and keep phone screens as dim as practical. Avoid white flashlights, camera flashes, and headlights on the observing field.
Around telescopes
Walk carefully around tripods, tables, power cords, and other equipment. Ask before touching, moving, or refocusing a telescope.
Children and groups
Children are welcome at public events. Younger visitors should remain with a responsible adult, especially after dark.
Bringing a telescope
Please do. BBAA members are happy to help with setup, alignment, collimation, finders, eyepieces, and first targets.
Weather and status
Check the event's Night Sky Network listing before traveling. Telescope observing is weather dependent, although some programs may continue indoors.
