About BBAA

Back Bay Amateur Astronomers was founded December 14, 1978 by people drawn together by a common interest in observational astronomy. Today the club serves Hampton Roads through public observing, solar astronomy, educational programs, member observing, workshops and special events.

Members range from people taking their first look through a telescope to experienced observers, telescope makers, imagers and educators. BBAA is affiliated with the Astronomical League, participates in NASA/JPL's Night Sky Network, and works with parks, libraries, schools, museums and community organizations throughout the region.

Our motto remains Bringing Astronomy to the People of Hampton Roads.
